Eggs and Herbs

This week I am doing everything in my power to use up what we have ourselves and resisting the urge to shop for any more food. 
 
Luckily the hens are in full lay and we have lots of lovely fresh eggs.  The herbs in the old tin bath are doing wonderfully well considering the fact that were so rudely dug up, left to languish in pots for so long in the cold, wet Winter and have only now been replanted and cared for.
 
I had planted some Chive seeds to fill a gap that was in the bath, but a certain little doggie decided that this 'gap' was the perfect place to bury a bone and the seeds were scattered before they had a chance to germinate.  Now a second lot have been sown and hopefully, if I manage to keep them covered for a while, we will soon have chives to snip over our lovely fresh omelettes and scrambled eggs.
 
Lovely tasty fresh food free and right on our doorstep.

  1. Love fresh herbs. Despite moving from Norfolk to Dorset via 6 months in Hampshire, I still have a lovely blue glazed pot of very healthy parsley. Unfortunately the sage did not fare so well, but have access to some herbs on the site we work at now, and once we get fully settled and into a fully regular routine (if that ever happens!) I may well buy some more plants to compliment the parsley.
